Gold: steady and widely trusted
Gold is the classic store of value. Its price moves, but usually less sharply than silver, and it is easy to sell anywhere in the world. Central banks hold it, which supports demand.
Silver: cheaper per gram, moves more
Silver costs far less per gram, so the same budget buys more metal. It is also used heavily in industry, such as solar panels and electronics, which makes its price swing more in both directions.
Costs are different too
Silver is bulkier for its value, so storing and handling it costs more per dirham. That shows up in the spread: at Lumos it is about 1.5% each way for gold, and for silver about 5% when you buy and 0.3% when you sell.
Many people hold both
A common approach is to keep most savings in gold for stability and a smaller part in silver for growth potential. There is no right answer for everyone; it depends on how much price movement you are comfortable with.
